Community-Led Governance

The Beaufort Family Health Society follows best practices in community-led non-profit governance. We are committed to strong community leadership through governance. This looks like:

  • Embedding community voices in the governance model

  • Volunteer Board of Directors elected annually by its membership

  • Leadership is directly accountable to the community it serves

  • Board members reflect the community (ies) served

  • Tailoring services to meet the specific health needs of the community

  • Actively seeks input from patients to understand needs and opportunities for service enhancement in the community

Voice of the Community

The Beaufort Family Health Society exists to serve the community. A non-profit healthcare model is only effective when shaped by those it serves. Community members provide crucial insight into gaps in service, patient experiences, and health priorities.

While healthcare expertise is essential, the lived experience of patients and residents is equally valuable in guiding what services are offered and how services may be delivered.

Join Our Board!

Our board is looking for new directors!

After three start-up years, we’re moving from a working board (where the board did a lot of hands-on work to get the society and clinic up and running), into a governance board where the board is accountable for the performance of the society and clinic overall.

We are expanding our group of directors to engage more community members in the governance of the Society and its current (and future!) operations.

Our focus is shifting from starting up the clinic to the broader needs of the community.

Our aim is to have community representation on the board, particularly individuals who can support further growth and development of our organization in alignment with our vision to connect people to care.

We are looking for energetic, community-minded individuals with an interest in helping those in the communities we serve live their best lives.

We follow a defined governance framework to guide our work; if you have little or no governance experience we provide an onboarding process and ongoing support.

We meet as a board every two months and leverage the expertise and capacity of directors.

This is a great way to contribute to the community and make a real difference.

If we’ve managed to capture your interest, please reach out and connect with us to learn more at board@beaufortfamilyhealth.ca.
